Description

Jose Ortega and Mechanics' Institute are excited to offer a free chess tournament to support the community of players at Jose Ortega. This is a great opportunity to get experience with competitive play in a low stakes environment with friends and peers.

 

First round at 2pm

Students will play in all 3 rounds, win, lose, or draw

Students will be separated by grade into 3 sections: K-1, 2-3, and 4-5

All sections are non-rated

Top 5 players in each section receive a trophy with medals to all others

 

Registration period

Registration starts on 05/06/2026 and ends on 05/27/2026.

Restrictions

Participants must currently be in grades kindergarten to 8.
